ATS Mechanical is the only HVAC company I will use. They give you the best bang for your buck on all systems. I have used them twice--once to install a Mitsu MiniSplit and once for a complete overhaul of a 2 ton unit. Both systems they installed were premiere systems with 10 year warranties. I am most pleased with Eric who is one of their on-call techs, Barry who runs the company, and Lillie who always puts a smile on my face when I call the office. I've recommended ATS to several friends who are all extremely pleased with ATS.

I had ATS Mechanical North Houston come out this past week and zone the heating and A/C ductwork in my attic for two guest bedrooms and bathroom. It has always been a little warm down there; a thermometer showed it was running about 3-4 degrees warmer than the rest of the house in the summer months. ATS was here for 11 hours (8:30 AM until 7:30 PM) working non-stop. They installed new 7 inch ductwork and dampers plus another brand new wireless thermostat that controls just the two guest bedrooms and bathroom area. Amazing! I never really thought it would work as well as they said it did, but it is working better than I could imagine. I also have noticed that the rest of my house is running cooler and exactly ("true") to my original thermostat's temperature that is locate near the master bedroom. (My house always felt like it was a little bit warm in the summer, even though my HVAC system is only two years old.) Eric D., the installation crew manager, had me go with him up to the attic to see the work that they completed and I was blown away by all of the new ductwork that I saw. Most of the original ductwork is gone but you can definitely distinguish the old ductwork from the new ductwork - the old ductwork isn't nearly as well insulated and it is only 6 inches in diameter vs. the newer ductwork that is 7 inches. It isn't cheap - $4600 - but the cost to install a mini-split was much more. I have a one story house that is 2,427 square feet; house was built in 2002. (ATS Mechanical was the second HVAC company I received a quote from; I had another company come out but they wanted to install the mini-split system.) Now I wish I would have done this sooner. https://ats-mechanical.com/ ATS has three offices but one phone number that you call: 346-572-8856. They also give military discounts as well.

I was told I needed to replaced the mother board in my ac unit and that the unit was not under warranty. He called Lennox in front of me. The unit is 9 years old. I was quoted $7,060 to replace the mother board. He wanted me to replace the unit at a cost of 15 to $20,000. Another contractor told me that the unit is still under warranty (I called Lennox, and they verified it.) He quoted me 1,700, which is still too much. I have been told that I should only pay about 200 to $300 since the part should be free. I'm not happy, and I'm getting more estimates.

I was quoted $7,060 to replace the mother board on my Lenox AC unit. He wanted me to replace the unit at a cost of 15 to $20,000. The quote was 3 to 4 higher than anybody else. There were some issues regarding the warranty on the unit. The owner, Barry, communicated with me and cleared up the misunderstanding. I did not use them because of the high price. I can't attest as to their work. I paid $99 to join their club, and they did not charge me for the estimate/quote.

Our existing AC system was very old and no longer worked efficiently - it couldn't keep up with Houston heat (house was built in the 1960s, and the system was ~20 years old). We got quotes from three reputable AC companies, but ATS Mechanical's approach differed from the others. In addition to taking an unhurried assessment of our current system and the layout of the house and attic, Barry (owner) sat down with us for nearly 45 minutes to ask questions about our needs, goals, and budget. His recommended solution was an entire replacement of the attic unit, the outside compressor, all-new ductwork, an additional return in our master bedroom, a new vent fan/heater in the guest bathroom, and an up-to-date smart thermostat. Also at Barry's recommendation we got new insulation blown into the attic. Not only did all this work come at a favorable price relative to the competition, but Barry's thoughtfulness about the design inspired our confidence. The results? Even better than expected: our house is cooler, the humidity is lower, and our bills are less expensive than before the replacement. We are loving the variable-speed compressor that we got. The outside/inside differential in temperature is dramatic. All the work was done as promised: efficiently but with an eye towards detail. I've never been so satisfied with a home maintenance project. If you need expert analysis of your existing system and are considering a major replacement, I highly recommend you talk to Barry at ATS Mechanical.
